Due to continual interest, we are considering holding an additional IN-CAMERA: Shooting & Post workshop. If you would like to sign up for the class, contact us at INCAMERA@grayphotograph.com and once we receive enough serious inquiries, we will schedule an additional date!
We can't wait and are looking forward to meeting and hanging with all of you who have signed up so far!!
As I slowly started waking up this morning, I realized my bed didn't feel how it normally feels, and wait, my pillow feels different too... "We're not in Kansas - I mean - Nashville anymore..." That's right - we're in Connecticut!
A few months ago Zach and I were invited out to this great state (29th most populated state with 3.4 million residents, thank-you Wikipedia) by some of the coolest cats in the photography world - Justin & Mary Marantz! These guys are great people and have fantastic work and we're looking forward to the next 2.5 days hanging here with them!
Our time here will consist of chillin', talking shop, Justin & Mary want to do a photo shoot of us, and on Wednesday we will be speaking at their photography group they lead. We're excited for this trip and it's nice to hand out in a new city with some new friends!
As soon as we stepped off the plane we experienced exciting & magical things (see video below) and we know only more exciting things are to come... ha ha ha... Seriously, check out this video... We have never seen anything like it before... or maybe we've just been deprived. :)

IN-CAMERA Workshops are photography workshops which are designed to inspire photographers at all levels and help them gain a better understanding of every aspect of photography from beginner techniques all the way down to advanced lighting and business strategy. These workshops will cover many topics including:
- Shooting perfect exposures, color and compositions right inside the camera - How to manipulate light to get the shot that you want every time - Interacting with your subject - Consistent shooting for fast work flow - Finding natural light and using it to your advantage - How to take your photography business to the next level through marketing and branding in a competitive market

Yes, Zach and I have caught a bug, but it was well worth it! This past Friday through Monday Zach and I went with our church's high school youth group on winter retreat as leaders. We had a blast and some crazy times (see below!) and also many heart to heart times as well. It's funny how you go with the mindset of solely serving and being there for others, but then God rocks your world as well. The weekend was wonderful and the students in our group are so dear to our hearts - we love you guys and are so proud of you!
Here is us with (most of) our group on the last day:
Can you spot us? Some parents think we are students! ... lol.
An interesting element added on retreat is that on the last night each small group had to perform a skit. On Saturday each group was given 3 elements they had to incorporate in the skit. These were ours:
1) Gladiators 2) Hannah Montana vs. The Jonas Brothers 3) Ancient Rome
Our group didn't feel like putting forth the energy to make the skit and then have to perform the skit live on stage, so we had the crazy idea to be a bit lame, and do it all on video so we didn't have to go up and act it out. The funny thing was, is it actually turned out pretty good and we WON first place!!!!!!! woo hooo!
For your enjoyment we bring to you our creation...
OK, so maybe it was not fair that we also did a sweet Rock-Star photo shoot of our look-alike bands, but why not take any advantage that we can to win? :)
We are on retreat right now so we have scheduled this blog to go up in our absence!
Thanks to Kristin's blog from Simply Stunning Events, we grabbed this video and wanted to share it as well in honor of Valentines Day!! What a super sweet proposal!!!!!!!!
We have been introduced to a new planner, Angela with Southern Event Planners, and we found ourselves on her blog and came across this CRAZY, horrible, but funny and still mortifying video that we saw there. We just had to share it as well!
If there was an award for best marketing idea, that took a little bit of computer skills (ok, probably a lot), and a simple idea but yet brought in millions of $$, Office Max in partner with Jib Jab takes the cake. We saw the below video of us and were suckered in to paying the $4.99 to get this video. It's only because we wanted to share it with you!
So to preface, you may think that the below couple - Lee & Elisabeth look all cool and nice and sweet, but in reality, they are up to crazy schemes and secretly have the best dance moves out there and have taught us some tricks as well...
This is a little something they made and sent on over to us...
Well, friends, today was a great day - A Franklin shoot, something that begins with "s" and a special weekend ahead!!
A Franklin Shoot: We had a shoot today done of US by the great Keoni K! It was raining most of the day, but we grinned and stuck it out and still managed to look cool... hopefully - ha! Our makeup was done by the amazing Amy Lynn Larwig who just returned back to Nashville from furthering her makeup studies (I know there is a more professional word for it than that...) in Vancouver! Stay tuned for some photos that we will post once we receive some of the final images!
Something that begins with "S": The other big and exciting thing that happened today was that it SNOWED!!!!!!! Yes!! Right here in Franklin, TN!! Good thing we were able to capture it!!!
A Special Weekend: And the final thing to announce iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis - My awesome husband's birthday is this Saturday!!! I'm not going to spill how old he will be turning...For those who are reading this off a feed, I have placed a poll at the top of our blog and you now can vote on his age. Another cool thing about this weekend is Zach's mom is coming to visit and celebrate with us! She is flying all the way in from North Dakota (and we blame her for the snow... last time it snowed like this in Nashville she was with us!!).
We forgot to mention - while you are in the Christmas spirit reading our tree adventuresblog below, we thought we would take a moment and share an interesting fact about our friends Mike & Kelly (who appeared in our blog below) as well as suggest a great Christmas present for your family & friends (ah, yeah!).
Mike is in the signed band Tenth Avenue North, and their album "Over and Underneath" is amazing. If you're a radio listener you have more than likely heard their songs - both singles released to radio have hit #1 on the AC radio charts!! If you're wondering what to buy your friends for Christmas - this is the gift! It'll touch their lives.
To watch their music video and see Mike NOT acting like a hillbilly see below... :o)
Yesterday we made the hike all the way to Shelbyville and got us a Christmas tree!!! We cut it down ourselves and everything!!
We went with some friends of ours - Mike & Kelly (who are sharing their first Christmas together as newlyweds.... aww) and Kelly's brother and our friend Chris (by the way, he's a rockin' hair stylist so if you need a great haircut we have the man to send you to!).
Look at Zach being manly and cutting our little, cute tree!
Success!
Kelly & Mike with their first tree!
Chris and his.... unique tree...
Zach doing his Christmas tree dance (look! A photo with both of us in it! Mike D was the man behind our camera on this one...)
Chris striking up a conversation with the creepy elf...
Taking the trees home...
We actually have some live footage of this experience to share with you. You get to hear my awesome laughter and everything... This is the first time we're uploading videos - enjoy!
Ah... hope you all enjoy your own Christmas tree experiences this year!!
