A Blog For Our Bridal Show Brides :)

So glad you have come by to check out not only our photography, but us! Take some time poking around our blog, and feel free to visit our website as well!

A little bit on who we are…

We are a Nashville based wedding photography duo. We love people and weddings and love to travel worldwide.

We are NOT about:

Boring & horrible photos
Being average in our work
Spiders (sorry, I Jody, had to add that in there because I HATE spiders…very important to note)

We ARE about:
Photography that amazes
Having a blast doing what we love

Encouraging others to do what they are passionate about
Sharing our lives - in and outside of photography

Marriage
Relationships
Giving props to amazing vendors who we work with
Much, much more

We would absolutely LOVE to get to know you and your fiancé over coffee or even dinner, and hear what you are all about! Contact us via our site -
GrayPhotography.

Coverage begins at $4,000 for Zach & Jody, Associate pricing begins at $2,500.

Our Blissful Model Bride from South Carolina

We have the awesome opportunity to be the wedding photographers for a lovely couple this October in South Carolina - Paul Morris & Laura Bliss! Around Easter we were able to grab lunch with them at one of our favorite places to eat (Maniacs!) here in Nashville, and we can't WAIT for their wedding! This past weekened not only did we have the Bridal Show, but Laura drove to Nashville with two of her really fun (and helpful) girlfriends to do her bridal shoot on the historic grounds of the Ellington Agricultural Center.

Here are a few shots from the day! Stay tuned for some behind-the-scenes shots including gear set up and bridge making... :)

To the Brides from the Bridal Show!

Just wanted to give a big shout-out to those of you soon-to-be brides who stopped by our booth today at the Nashville Convention Bridal Show! It was so great meeting some of you, and we can't wait to grab a cup of coffee or get some food at Panera Bread and learn more about what you envision for your wedding day and how we can be a part of that!

Accepting Intern Applications for Late Fall 2008

.
WANTED!

Seeking Individuals Eager to Learn!

We are opening our business up to individuals who want to serve and learn more about the wedding photography industry. This is your big chance as a budding photo geek (like us!) to get to see the inner workings of the wedding photography world!

We are looking for someone who is ready to work hard and wants to learn everything from shooting styles and advanced photography technique, to running a successful photography business from the ground up. The internship will include but is not limited to:

One-on-one Sessions over Coffee Learning About:
- Branding your business in order to stand out in the market
- Networking how-tos
- The 20% mindset and how it can make your business go where you never thought
- Letting your photos stand on their own without having PhotoShop serve as a crutch
- Post-production workflow
- Gear talk - Why we use what we use and how
- Q. and A. time - You pick the topic

Assisting at Shoots/Workshops:
- You will watch and learn how we interact with clients at a real event
- Help set up shots on location and work with our couples first hand during our Lifestyle Sessions as well as Weddings.
- Learn by doing – As your time with us draws to an end you will be able to act as third shooter with at least two of our weddings, and will be able to keep the images for your portfolio
- As we host photography workshops you will be a part of the behind-the-scenes team

What is Required?
- A minimum 3 month commitment
- Assistant work at engagement, bridal, wedding shoots and workshops
- A great attitude
- A desire to learn
- A strong desire to serve

We are excited to offer this internship because we not only have a strong desire to shoot beautiful wedding photos and have a great time working with couples, but we also love serving and helping other photographers reach their goals and dreams in any way that we can.

Please contact us if you are interested and we will send you an application to fill out. We will be conducting interviews here in Franklin by appointment only.

This internship is not a paid position.

Sorry, I couldn't resist adding this photo... It cracks me up! Too bad it's a video camera and not a Canon 5D, but it still serves its purpose :)

Andrew, Amie & Emma - A New Family

Before we even begin to post pictures of Andrew and Amie's wedding that took place here in Nashville, Tennessee, we have to give a shoutout to Kat Coffen of Selah Style & Events for coordinating this wedding. To get a coordinator or not - that is the question of many brides. WE notice a huge difference in weddings that have coordinators and those that don't. We often mention to our couples how important it is to have a coordinator to run AT THE LEAST your wedding day so you can actually ENJOY it.

And now... what you have all been waiting for...

This is Amie’s daughter, Emma… is she not the cutest? She was so precious! She had her own wedding bouquet with bright pink roses and tiara.

Andrew is a lawyer and I don’t think you can find any other lawyer who looks as cool as he does…

Andrew and Amy's reception took place downtown Nashville, TN at Events @1418. It's a great, intimate venue for a reception!

Their wedding cake was decorated beautifully with pink calla lillies, and purple, pink, and white roses.

I LOVE this shot that Zach took. This was during their first dance... Look how the light just flows through the dress...

Amy and Andrew wanted to have a green, Nashville wedding so instead of favors their favors were trees for their guests to take home and plant!

And off to the honeymoon! I love Amie's face here!

Thank-you Andrew and Amy for letting us share your big day with you!

They’re Getting Married in The Mornin’… Ding Dong the Bells are Gonna’ Chiiiime!

”I am getting soooo excited about the wedding weekend and can't believe it's finally here and that I am going to be a wife in 5 days!!”

This is a little note we received from Katie Lenchis (soon-to-be Katie Brooks!), a few days ago. Now, they only have one more day to go until they get married!!!

We are sooooooooooo excited for them (how can we not be?), and can’t wait either! We are so glad that we are their wedding photographers. A few weeks ago we did her Bridal Portrait Session in Leipers Fork, Tennesse, and of course we are having to wait until after to post those images, but we will post just a few of their engagement photos for now!!!

Katie and Colin's engagement session was shot at the Factory in Franklin, TN.

How did they do that with no PhotoShop?

And now we bring to you…. (drum roll please) …

How Did They Do That?

This is the part of our wedding photography blog where we share with those interested how we make the shots look how they look, especially without any PhotoShop tricks. For those of you who know us, we love photography and want to spend as much time as we can behind the camera and not behind a computer screen. Shooting the shot correctly to begin with enables us to spend little time in post-production and to enjoy what we do best – capturing beautiful wedding moments and doing suh-weet shots like these.

Destination: Destin, FL
Lifestyle Wedding Shoot on the Florida beach.

This image you have seen in an earlier post...

Photobucket

Here's behind-the-scenes beach shot showing our lighting gear...

Photobucket

How we did it:

This was taken at near sunset with a 32 inch WestCot soft box and a 500 watt Photogenic mono-light at around 300 watts.

Exposure: F/7.1 at /125th of a second
Lens: Canon 24-70L 2:8 at 24mm wide
Camera: Canon 5D at ISO 50

The image was slightly cropped (to make it perfectly straight with the horizon) and adjusted in Adobe LightRoom. The black and white is custom with near zeroed out blacks and some split toning to give it a little color.

And there you have it!

Here are some other shots from the day. To see more, scroll below for an earlier post this month! BUT just because we love this couple and for those who are too lazy to scroll down, I'll repost some of the same photos again :)

And of course, one of our favorite...

Photobucket

Pretty much same info as before:

Taken at sunset with a 32 inch WestCot soft box and a 500 watt Photogenic mono-light at around 300 watts.

Exposure: F/6.3 at /125th of a second
Lens: Canon 24-70L 2:8 at 24mm wide
Camera: Canon 5D at ISO 50

Adjusts made in Adobe Lightroom: slight overall color bump and slight crop to straighten the horizon.
